From Ally to Zacky

From Ally to Zacky
Dropout

Ally Beardsley, Zac Oyama, and friends take audience suggestions and perform absurd monoscenes.

Dropout reached out to me with an opportunity to animate ANOTHER intro sequence for an improv show they released called From Ally to Zacky.

This one was a funny story, a few years back I participated in something called ARBTOBER. It was a daily art challenge with a prompt list entirely related to and controlled by Arbys. I did it purely for a joke but figured it’d be a fun challenge to restrict myself to this cartoony lineart in a single color.

When deciding the visual direction for From Ally to Zacky, we needed a quick way to introduce all of the hosts. We landed on a yearbook aesthetic and the VFX supervisor TJ mentioned that they were particularly drawn to this collection of doodles I made for fun on Instagram. I never thought in a million years this silly challenge would translate to paid work but one thing led to another and I got to make a bunch of fun doodles for this intro sequence! I’ll share some of my favorite tidbits below.
